Knud Holscher / d line

PROFESSOR, ARCHITECT

Educated at the Academy of Fine Arts’ School of Architecture in Copenhagen and employed at the Academy of Fine Arts as Professor in 1968, Knud Holscher began his career in the private sector working for Danish architect Arne Jacobsen and eventually became partner in the Architectural firm KHR A/S Architects. In 1995 he founded his own company, Knud Holscher Industriel Design, and is the originator of the renowned d line series of industrial design wares.

Knud Holscher has won and received innumerable prizes and distinctions throughout his long and remarkable career—in 1999 he won the ID Classics prize for sustained design integrity over the last 25 years and was recently awarded the prestigious title ‘Honorary Royal Designer for Industry’ by The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), in London (an
honor received by a mere 49 non-English recipients before him).
